Jewellery - Fused Glass and Silver
I've been making glass and silver jewellery, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and brooches. I use coloured and transparent glass, fuse it with Dichroic glass and fine silver, and use sterling silver mounts and fixings.
I'm aiming to use colour and sparkle to lift, glisten, dazzle and effect mood enhancing change. After all what is jewellery for?

July Open Studios
I studied at Ravensbourne Art College, then 3D Design at Leicester Polytechnic (now De Montfort University) where I first blew glass. A lifetime of creativity later, I find I’m again working with glass. As with all artists my best work is the result of a hard negotiation between my concept and the resistance of the material. A bonus is that sparky moment of unanticipated fit between the countless parts I create.
Glass is an endlessly versatile medium that I take joy and delight in.. I buy sheets of flat glass, cut shapes, assemble and fire to fuse. I work with fused glass and silver to make jewellery. I fuse glass and add detail with traditional stained glass painting techiques to make pictures. I cut glass and wrap the edges with copper and solder to make window decorations.

COS Window Art 2020
Each weekend in July I will be showing my glass in the upstairs windows of my home, at 25 Green End Road. Unfortunately the length of the front garden and the smallness of my work isn't quite working as part of this COS Windows2020 so I have taken photos and you can see close ups in my "PORTFOLIOS" section
Photographs of my glass on display each weekend will be in the COSWindows Portfolio for that weekend.
The first weekend I will be showing foiled wrapped and soldered glass. "COS Windows 2020 4/5 July". I took the photos from inside the house, as these "Wndow Hanging" works are made to be viewed from the inside looking out. The two small pictures -"Mice" and "Toughtful Lady" will be showing in Maureen Mace's front garden on 11/12 July (see below)
The second weekend I will show my 30cm / 12" fused glass dishes. "COS Windows Weekend 11/12 July" shows the four large dishes being displayed the second weekend.
The third weekend I will show decorative hanging items including fish and fused glass pictures In My Portfolios see "COS Windows Weekend 18/19 July" for closeup images of the fused glass pictures in my windows. All my hanging fish will be on show with me outside 309 Milton Road, betweeen noon and 3pm.
The fourth weekend I will be showing a selection of my favourite items. Glass favourites images are in "COS Windows Weekend 25/26 July". Glass will be shown only on Sunday this weekend as the weather is too windy and wet.
This July I would have been exhibiting "Open Studio" again with the talented artist Maureen Mace again at her home - round the corner from me at 309 Milton Road. As Maureen says ....
"About 200 artists have got together all over Cambridgeshire to show their art in their windows. Not all windows are suitable and mine are quite a long way from the road and behind a high hedge. So I am considering having a table on my drive selling cards and some prints too - if it doesn't rain."
Maureen has invited me to join her and take a few glass treasures, so perhaps, weather permitting, we will be socially distancing outside - so do please come along between 12 noon and 3.00pm.
Meanwhile I am continually adding items to my Etsy shop is MPJArtGlass (https://www.etsy/shop/mpjartglass)
