July Open Studios
I recently started out as a professional artist with the primary ambition of pouring out my imagination into inked pictures. I try to increase the level of bizarre detail in them
as I go and find patterns and textures very exciting. I sell internationally and represent myself.
Finished inked pieces are
available as giclee prints on museum grade paper. Originals are also for sale unframed or framed.
Working only in black and white allows me to balance light effects and see that what I omit is as important as what is detailed.
I work with a 00 brush and dipped ink onto 3ply vellum for a commission.
I aim for all-ages appeal but tend towards the more grotesque traditions of European fairy art particularly from the Victorian era. I like fantasy subjects and Heraldry and I consider the 1960’s pop artist Alan Aldridge an influence on some of my ideas if not their execution which is in an engraved style made up of tiny lines.
These pieces are well below A4 in size to enable densely detailed passes with the ink.
I try to increase the level of bizarre intricacies in them
as I go and find patterns and textures very exciting.
