I love illustrating things that are common to many people but are in themselves special and meaningful, like having coffee with a friend, reading in a comfy chair, walking the dog or having a picnic. I enjoy humorous situations such as in "Father Christmas Punting". Sometimes just a phrase stirs my imagination. "Free Range" resulted in a drawing of hens lounging around the house playing card games and watching tele.
Trees seem to be a running theme in many of my larger 3D works. Whether bare or with leaves, their beauty continues to inspire as with the Silver Birches from Angelsey Abbey in "Hide and Seek".
Cambridge is a fantastic city to live and work in. It plays the background to many of my drawings, sometimes obviously but other times recognizable only to those who know it well.
This year I will be showing some new work that relates to my children's book illustrations.
