July Open Studios
Richard spent his working life with computers and his printmaking work is informed by his interest in science and philosophy. Art is a way to examine what science finds most difficult: sharing the experience of imagination and seeing. The exploration is not just of the mechanics of printmaking but of finding a viewpoint. Each choice of subject must be matched with the capabilities and limitations of the medium. The time expended and the effort of producing each print injects a human component into the results that a computer-based printout could never embody. Richard enjoys the physicality of printmaking processes and the satisfaction of creating tangible art objects.
