Kathryn M Holford MA rca

After a traditional art school education and 30 years working internationally as a glass designer and sculptor, Kathryn moved to France with her partner in 2017 settling as an artist in Normandy.

Inspired by the local landscape and culture, she developed a series of work which referenced her emotional and spiritual responses to that beautiful area.

During the 2020 ‘confinement’ she began painting the flowers in her French garden and continued to develop this work throughout the year.

Resettling in Cambridgeshire in late 2020 she continues to develop her painting practice in response to the landscape and culture of her birthplace. Discovering a deep connection in particular with the fenlands and looking forward to discovering the secrets of her English garden in the spring.

“Painting begins with a desire to capture the spirit of what I see and feel, to evoke a sense of place and the momentary experience, like the fleeting cast of light that makes a green field incandescent before the clouds hide the sun again."
